Help! I have a customer who is trying to emboss on satin, but can't keep the powder from clinging to unwanted areas. When she taps it off it comes off the ink as well. (This project doesn't have to be washable.) I stamp on fabric all the time, I just don't emboss on it so I'm useless. I did suggest using Deka metallic textile paints, but she want the embossed effect. Any suggestions? WubbuWu WubbuWu@aol.com
I embossed a line design image all over the bottom of an organza evening gown last summer. The dress was mint green, I stamped with white pigment ink and used abalone green (and or pearl green, don't recall) EP. I used a paint brush to get the unwanted EP off. I believe I did the images one at a time (all 100 of them) and embossed from below. The hardest part was keeping the heat gun far enough so it wouldn't pucker or fry the fabric, and close enough to actually heat the EP. I had to do it from the bottom because the EP was barely sticking to the pigment ink. In the end I had a dress to die for, quite a hit with all the ladies at our cruise dining table (I was by far the youngest at our table, which at 40 was quite a treat). The top was fitted crushed velvet, cap sleeved, v-backed, the skirt was a full circle of organza with a school of pearly embossed fish swimming around the bottom foot of the skirt. By the way, the image I used is from Phil/Red Castle. It's his gorgeous jumping fish image made of calligraphy scroll work. I still owe him a picture of it.
