Eggshell Art
Barb Gibson zeke@intergate.bc.ca
Actually I collected eggs and have a hand painted bandy egg with a tiny scenic of mountains etc. on it done by someone who wanted to stay at a hostel my friend was running and didn't have any money until the next day when he could go to the bank to the bank machine. He gave her the egg and told her if she let him a room for the night he would pay her the next day for the overnight stay and plus one more day. as it was pouring rain she let him stay and the next day he did as he promised and paid her for the night of he stayed on the egg plus one more day. When he left he told her to keep the egg and she gave it to me knowing I collect them. What I have done is take yellow cooking onion skins (with the onion removed of course) and laid it on some cheesecloth then wrapped the cheesecloth around the egg then sprayed it lightly (misted) with a spray bottle. Let it dry and the next day you'll have a light yellow pattern on the egg. You could probably do this also with bits of Spectrum tissue paper too, then afterwards stamp a image on the egg.
You can also use cabbage leaves as well but leave the a bit longer after spraying on the water and letting them dry out to get the colouring.

I am going to give away my most favorite secret...wash egg shells and be sure to remove the membrane inside...let them dry and break into pieces. Now take a small brush and brush them with embossing fluid..I use the Dove blender refill...and pour on several colors of ep and heat with the gun. Now break them up into tiny pieces and use in a shaker card..no one will ever guess what it is...
