Dremel Uses

LC/Starfish Stamper LCharvon@AOL.COM
Here's how I've used it so far... 1. to drill a hole in a UTEE tile (constructed on a little wood chip thing)...to wire a beed in... 2. used the sanding drum to smooth the rough edges of same said tile! 3. used the little pointy, gritty thing (nice technical name!) to carve away the extra 'stuff' around the eraser I'm carving...

I use my dremel for making holes in various things, using the smaller drill bit type attachments. I also use my dremel for "shaping" CD pieces. I use the medium grit sanding drum. First stamp on the CD, cut around it and then use my sanding drum to "sand" to the edges of the stamped images. It is a bit messy, but if you've ever tried to cut a circle or oval out of a CD you know how difficult that can be. The dremel and sanding drum makes quick work of it without cracking the CD and also gives you a nice, smooth edge. I wouldn't suggest trying this without one of those paper masks and safety glasses though. Someone a while back told me you can also etch on glass using the diamond headed drill bit. I've got the bit and the glass, just haven't tried it. I've used the cutting disk to quickly cut wooden and thin metal dowels too. I have a project book that came with my dremel, here's a few more ideas:

1. Lightly sanding edges of wood pieces. (think those small wooden ornaments or frames even)
2. Removing seam marks on ceramics
3. Cleaning, polishing and buffing various items
4. Cut out shapes in terra cotta pots
5. Etching ceramic tiles
6. Engraving on metal
7. Carving wood, either one dimensional flat carving or three dimensional layered carving.
8. Drill holes in hard things, like nuts in the shell, for holiday decorating, etc...
9. Carving dried gourds

Seems like this nifty tool would have a million and one uses, I'm just taking my time figuring out which ones work for me!!!
