Chalk Embossing

Queenpokey@aol.com
use white pigment ink stamp image (on dark cardstock works well) then emboss with white powder use chalks to highlight color looks nice for example on grape vines, pansies i tend to use solid stamps when i do it it also has not rubbed off to my knowledge i've tried it with just embossing ink not the white and it does not look nearly as nice the chalks stick to the melted embossing powder gives it a subtle maybe antique look( for lack of a better term) you'll see what i mean when you try it

I was reading the rubber stamp message boards on AOL, and saw this idea. Thought Bettie has a great idea. I wanted to let you in on it. BUT I also told better I passed her idea along and I'm giving her credit for it too. I'm not pulling a Jill here. I read too much about that and don't want to get in the middle a war like that. I just thought any of you that use chalk may like Bettie's idea. Recently I was embossing with white on white & then using chalk. It looked great but I wanted some words on the front of the card. I wanted the word color to match the color in the flowers. I didn't have that color embossing powder. I took one of my little square chalks, an exacto knife and scrapped(sp?) a thin layer of chalk into the pearl white embossing powder. It turned out perfect.

I didn't get your email addy. I talked to Bettie about the way you thought about using the chalk over the top of the clear embossing. She thinks it might be messy. She said she just takes a little embossing powder out and mixes it with the chalk. This way she still gets all the colors but not the mess. But if you try your way let me know how it works. Bettie wanted to know to.

I've had many requests since I posted this yesterday so here ie goes. I'll explain the card we did and then you can adapt to to your own use. First we embossed in black the String of Hearts (DOTS). We then chalked in the hearts (with a q tip) using the chalks from the pallete. I know Baggie has sold these. She also suggested using a tiny flat brush for chalking. We used the lt. pink, bright pink, and purple. Then we took a q tip and made lines around the image (kind of like sunrays) using those colors. We then used a small slightly damp brush to run over these lines. It blended them real nice. We did not clean the brush for each color. You've got to try this. it looks real neat.
