Pearl Ex & Opalite Inkpads
Author: Tyra L. Smith
(Manufacturer  Rupert, Gibbon & Spider   http://www.jacquardproducts.com/  Pearl Ex Inkpads)
(Manufacturer  Tsukineko  http://www.tsukineko.com/  Opalite Inkpads)

For the first time since I started doing product reviews, I have found it necessary to include two different products in the same review. The following review is strongly based on my personal opinion and should not be taken to mean that any one product (or company) is better than another.

Opalite Pigment Inkpad – Reflective Interference Ink – By Tsukineko
-Archival, acid-free, fade-resistant, child-sale, non-toxic
-NOT permanent (it will smear under wet work even when heat set)
-All colors are interference colors and look best on black or dark cardstock/surfaces
-Will dry on all surfaces, the more non-porous surfaces (doms/glossy cardstock, etc..) will have to be heat set to get inks to dry.
-They look OK on light or white surfaces, very slight color is visible if you turn it in the light.

Pearl Ex Stamp Pads – Manufactured by Jacquard, Available from USArtQuest
-ARE permanent on every surface once heat set.
-Easy clean up with water
-Archival quality and acid free
-Will NOT smear under wet work once heat set.
-Includes a range of Essential colors, Duo colors and Interference colors (which is nice).
-Will dry on all surfaces, the more non-porous surfaces (doms/glossy cardstock, etc..) will have to be heat set to dry inks.
-Colors look nice on dark and light surfaces alike. Naturally, interference colors look better on darkers surfaces.
-The interference colors do show a light glimmer of color on white/light cardstocks. It really is quite enchanting. -Duo, Metallic and Interference ink colors are shimmery, Essential ink colors are not.
-Duo, Metallic and Essential inks are opaque

In my opinion...the Pearl Ex Interference Stamp Pads and the Opalite inkpads are similar enough that you probably wouldn't want to buy both. If given a choice, I think the Pearl Ex Stamp Pads would be the better buy because I feel they are more versatile than the Opalite Inkpads.
